Essentia smart cap

A humidity-aware cap for the jars already in your pantry.

Essentia replaces a standard mason jar lid with a rechargeable cap, premium PCB assembly, color touch LCD controls, food presets, and a condition-aware exchange system that protects the target range you select.

4-7 mo. Estimated typical battery life per charge, based on a protected 2,500 to 3,000 mAh rechargeable pack and intermittent active cycles.

The product

Premium enough for the counter. Practical enough for the pantry.

Essentia is designed for households that buy better ingredients, grow herbs, cure botanicals, or want bulk foods to last longer without disposable humidity packs.

  • Color capacitive touch LCD with preset profiles and target RH.
  • Premium 4-layer PCB assembly with ENIG finish, test points, and moisture-conscious coating plan.
  • Protected name-brand lithium battery pack with USB-C charging hardware.
  • Manual override for any desired humidity target within practical sensor range.
  • Condition-aware exchange logic that avoids making the jar wetter or drier in the wrong direction.
  • Regular-mouth and wide-mouth mason jar versions planned for the founding run.

High-level control logic

It only acts when the room can improve the jar.

The public version is simple: Essentia compares the target, the jar condition, and the surrounding room. When the room would push the jar toward the target, it manages an exchange. When it would push the jar away, it waits.

1

Select a target

Choose a food or herb preset, or set a custom RH target from the LCD controls.

2

Compare conditions

Essentia evaluates whether the room is actually helpful before changing the jar environment.

3

Stay closed when needed

If the jar is 75% RH and the room is 80% RH, the cap stays closed because exchange would raise humidity.

Power estimate

Battery life planning, before final prototype validation.

A premium protected rechargeable lithium-ion or lithium-polymer pack that fits inside the cap while leaving room for airflow routing is expected to land around 2,500 to 3,000 mAh. Final runtime depends on display brightness, local climate, jar volume, and how often active humidity correction is needed.

Typical pantry use Estimated 4 to 7 months per charge with intermittent active cycles, low-power standby, and a larger premium cell.
Heavy cycling Estimated 8 to 12 weeks in homes with frequent room humidity swings or repeated lid interaction.
Quiet storage Estimated 7 months or more when the jar is near target and active correction is rare.
Charging USB-C rechargeable. Planning estimate is about 2 to 3 hours for a full charge.

These are planning estimates, not final certification claims. Final numbers should be updated after prototype bench testing.
